Mysterious and an oasis of the dessert of life, Xishui has had this unique red crust and danxia landform which is an unparallel wonder formed 0.135 billion years ago, when dinosaurs approaching extinction. In July 1999, the president of the National Red-Cloud Forming Landform Tourism Development Association and professor of the Zhongshan University, Peng Hua, composed a poem here: “Boasters should stop boasting, the Blue Sea and Red Cliff boast here.”
“China’s Danxia Valley” is separated by only one mountain from the Simian Mountain, a state-level tourist area in Chongqing. The mountain creating movement of the crust formed innumerous gullies and forks here. The danxia landforms there, scores of li in length, make every valley feast yours and every fork enchants you with their beauties. The “Gouquan Rock”, “Wangxian Cave”, “Sky Supporting Joystick” was elaborately formed by the nature. The “Hairdressing Jade Girl”, Moon Rock”, “Jade Girl Brook” and “Silk Fountain” make people attached to them wistfully. The meandering brooks around and sheer peaks on the mountains are adjacent to Sichuan and Chongqing.
　　The king of fir in China is 44.8m in height, 2.23m in diameter and 22.7m in crown diameter. 6 men will be necessary to hold the truck with hand in hand. The Zhaimen falls into Greater, Medium and lesser Zhaimen, dilapidated ancient structures remain. At the Lesser Zhaimen is a pass through natural chasm. The reddish brown Danxia stone was laid together to form the city gate. In the due front is the first scene of Feige, North Guizhou Cloud Sea, where people can command the view thousands of li away. In case of misty morning, the sea of cloud will roll and surge and the Xianshan Mountain will appear and disappear again and again. In case of a clear weather after a rain, you can see a vast stretch of the scenery. Reflecting on the past in the light of the present at the Sea View Pavilion, you will fee as if you were touring the Dongting Lake, with both a thread of sadness as well as a void of worldly straight willows and firs. The “on-the-water” highways which combine rivers and highways are a masterpiece of the nature, you could not but say so.
　　Xishui is an ecological oasis, has 60 thousand hectares of primitive forest, where has 15 varieties of rare plants, such as taxol, Alsophila spinulosa, dovetree, Fujian cypress, etc, as well as 29 rare animals under the protection of the state, such as clouded leapord, Chrysolophus pictus, and etc. According to study, in this oasis are 1083 varieties of see bearing plants, 163 varieties of ferns, 154 varieties of mosses, 77 varieties of fungi, 72 varieties of animals, 142 varieties of birds, 34 varieties of reptiles, 31 varieties of amphibians, 57 varieties of fish, and 1375 varieties of insects.
